Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is the annual activity campaign run under the leadership of National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2023 is taking place Monday, February 27 – Sunday, March 5. The aim of the campaign is to draw attention to eating disorder struggles among students, raise awareness about the realities of eating disorders and provide support to individuals and the families affected by eating disorders.
College students are the common victims of eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, rumination disorder, etc. They affect approximately 11% to 17% of female students and 4% of male students. Furthermore, much greater numbers of college students—20% to 67%—experience subthreshold eating disorder symptoms.
